Translation of the German review

The album Legacy by the Hungarian band Djabe is dedicated to founding member and composer, percussionist and singer András “Sipi” Sipos, who died unexpectedly on September 14, 2007. Although his death was an irreparable loss for the band, the remaining members found a way to continue. They organized a charity and memorial concert for the benefit of András' family on November 30, 2007, and released the album Köszönjük Sipi! (Thank you Sipi!). In recognition of András Sipos' work, the album was re-released in 2023 under the new title Legacy. All the compositions on the album have a connection to Sipi. He was the author or co-author of some of the songs, while others were his favorites. The first three tracks, originally recorded by Sipi, were subsequently supplemented by Djabe for the album Legacy with vocals and the instruments berimbau, djembe and mbira.

Stylistically, the work moves between oriental soundscapes with mantra elements, interjections of gipsy music, hints of jazz and links to progressive rock. It represents a very good cross-section of the band's musical output from before 2007. The forward-driving drums set the pace for the album. On this basis, Djabe, with the voice of András Sipos and the rich instrumentation of the six other band members with alto flute, guitar, percussion, bass, violin, trumpet, piano and keyboards, constantly creates new musical themes and melodies that interlock like gears in a fluid flow.

The excellent recording contributes greatly to the perfect listening experience. All the instruments sound very natural. The deep and clear bass lines and the clean kicks of the bass drum are strikingly confident. The tight sound of the tape brings a high fun factor to the game. Thanks to the RTM LPR35 long-playing tape, the 48 minutes run through in one piece. The tape is on an aluminum reel and is stored in a hinged cardboard box with a sticker on the front and back. The master tape copy fulfills all the factors for the top class and can be purchased at the very reasonable price of 270.00 EUR. This all-round successful production picks me up emotionally and convinces me all along the line. This all-round successful production picks me up emotionally, convinces me all along the line and is a hot recommendation for all audio tape lovers!
